an exercise for Signature Style

In a week-long exercise the participants were asked to imagine a large corporation collaborating with a designated designer. My given designer being Ettore Sottsass, I chose to investigate how the contrasting wood -heavy minimalist aesthetic of Muji would mitigate his. Realizing Sottsass furniture are made out of planks of wood with layers of colors covering the grains, I chose to add one more layer of concealment in Muji fashion with subtly embossed white packaging. 

I chose to design an iphone case in knowing Sottsass’s fascination with objects of personal technology. And his infamous Enorme Telephone.
