As hyper-cynicism and ideological polarization seems to exponentially become the norm of perceiving the world, I felt more and more surrounded by a hesitancy to imagine. It seems as though, to imagine has come to be deemed at best an act of naiveté and at worst a complacent escapism. However, I believe that imagining is to transcend. It is not to ignore reality, but to perceive it and dare to move above the physical and ideological walls it has built between peoples and places.
When producing my work, I aim to understand the real needs of the surrounding socio-aesthetic and architectonic context and then take the leap to envision not only structures and forms, but worlds that I would want them to be in. In my work’s representation, I hope to have produced visions of places, spaces and objects that catalyze moments of much needed imagination.
